What do you get when you take black mare and stallion horse hair, mix it with equal parts of natural gut string made from sheep intestines and throw in some maple or rosewood for good measure?
Is it a recipe for disaster or Old MacDonald's farm?
What if we placed this concoction in the hands of four talented women and introduced you to the Madawaska Quartet?
Plan to attend on January 28th at 7:30 p.m.; Trinity Church in Bobcaygeon for the second concert in the Bobcaygeon Music Council’s Music Alive series and be entertained by the violin, viola and cello of this fabulously talented group.
In addition to the concert they will be running an open rehearsal and workshop from 2:00-4:30 on January 28th at Trinity United.
Plan to take advantage of this fabulous opportunity to work with these talented musicians. Since bursting onto the Canadian music scene in 2001 with a repertoire that leap-frogs across musical boundaries, and hailed for their “astonishing talent” (Musicworks Magazine), the Madawaska Quartet performs pieces from the mainstream to performance art, from the film score to the avant-garde, and from the baroque to the present-day.
They have performed internationally at the Festival Iberoamericano in Puerto Rico, the Festival of the Sound, the Elora Festival, the Toronto International Chamber Music Festival, the Indian River Festival in P.E.I., New Music North in Thunder Bay, the “Music at Port Milford” International Chamber Music Festival, “Great Artist” series at the Royal Conservatory of Music, CBC’s series “Music Around Us,” Beaver Valley concert series, Waterford summer concert series, Leith summer concert series, and La Chapelle du Bon-Pasteur in Montreal. Madawaska has worked with wide variety of musicians including Adrianne Pieczonka, Laura Tucker, Measha Brueggergosman, Leslie Kinton, Bob Wiseman, David Louie, and Glenn Montgomery. Champions of Canadian composers, this Quartet has over 20 Canadian works in their repertoire, many of which were written for and/or premiered by the Quartet.

- Bugs Bunny to the Wonderful World of Disney... the songs!
Starting at 7:30 p.m.
Located at Trinity Church, 42 William St. Bobcaygeon
Remember The Messiah from Christmas 2010 brought to you by Bobcaygeon's own Cicela Mansson? Well, she is back, this time perfoming with tenor Eric Shaw and pianist Stella terHart in a wild and wacky new BobcaygeonMusicCouncil show called Bugs Bunny to Disney... the songs!
You will hear all of your favourite Looney Tunes and Disney songs from the 1940s right up until today, while watching a story unfold its way through the songs.
Follow the zany lives of two aspiring singer/actors who are so focused on fame and fortune that they completely miss out on what's really important in life. Like all good Disney stories, this has a happy end. On Saturday June 4th come enjoy the songs of Michigan J. Frog, Daffy Duck, Tweety and Sylvester with Kermit the frog thrown in for good measure. Add to that the wonderful songs of Disne's Cinderella, Pinocchio, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King and Aladdin and you've got yourself an evening full of beautiful music and fun! Bring the whole family. This is a show with wide appeal.
The show starts at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 4th at Trinity United Church in Bobcaygeon.
Buy your ticket in Bobcaygeon at My Favourite Things, Shepherd's Well Pottery and Fine Art and Bobcaygeon Electronics or in Fenelon Falls at Stokes on Trent.
Tickets are $20/adults and $5/children & youth.
