"Enjoy Kawartha lakes
fishing year round."
We admit when it comes to Kawartha lakes fishing we are no experts.
For many years, we were the fun family type fishers. The type that goes after dinner with grandpa, grandma, mom, dad the kids and who ever wanted to tag along for an evening of entertainment. On Pigeon Lake by Nichols Cove we could fish for "Panfish", Perch, Sunfish, Rockbass and Crappie. Now you need a licence to fish,

FREE KAWARTHA LAKES FISHING
Weekend
of July 3-11, 2010
If you or someone you know would like to try fishing in the Kawartha Lakes for the first time (or the first time in a long time), you can for those three days only (12:01 a.m. Friday to 11:59 p.m. Sunday).
Us Canadians can enjoy the fun of fishing in the Kawarthas without a licence during the annual Ontario Family Fishing Weekend.
The lakes in the Kawarthas have some of the best warm water fishing in southern Ontario.

The Kawartha lakes are renowned for yellow pickerel, muskie, smallmouth and largemouth bass. In addition, they support large populations of panfish such as rock bass, yellow perch, sunfish and bullheads. One of the biggest fishing draws here to the Kawarthas is the walleye. Click here for some tips on recommended fishing lures to catch that big fish.
Generally, fishing in the Kawarthas tend to be rather crowded at certain times of the year especially in the spring so book your motel, cottage, B&B, camp site early. Or you can always find someone willing to let you crash at their place.
