"Kawartha Lakes foxes in backyard."

Last May 2010, we had Kawartha Lakes foxes in our own backyard.

In the seven years we have lived here, this is the first time we have ever seen a fox den here in the Kawarthas.

Living close to highway 7, we were surprised to see how comfortable the cubs were with the traffic and people living near by.

In the early morning dawn, we'd see their mother leave her cubs and the old ground hog den that had been there for years and hunt. By dusk, the little ones awoke and playfully waited for mom to arrive.

This went on for a couple of weeks. Everyday we would watch the cubs grow. They'd become a little braver and explore more and more outside their comfort zone. One morning we woke up and they were gone. Hopefully we see them back in the spring.
