Kawartha Lakes Skiing

One of the perks of living here is the Kawartha Lakes skiing. Just after finishing bagging all the fall leaves, it is a comfort to see the first snow fall. Mostly the snow stays with us from November till the end of March. This year the snow was late.

On a nice sunny day we would take the afternoon off and head off to Devil's Elbow. When the temperature is below -20° we stay away from skiing. Those ski chairs lifts are not as luxurious as the ones in Austria and Switzerland with the padded seats and warm plastic bubbles. Those 10 minutes sitting in a lift is bone chilling.

One winter we had an exchange student here from France. Together with another french exchange student and neighbourhood farm boys, they built a huge snow park in our back yard.
