There is a very lively group of youngsters who get together with their leaders and learn all sorts of fun things at our Spark and Brownie meetings each week.
The young girls play games and learn to share their ideas and to take turns helping each other.
For Halloween we all get dressed up and pay games and have healthy (for the most part)treats to eat. For Remembrance Day there was a church service to remember and the Girl Guides did readings and we marched with our flags at honour. Before Christmas we make a variety crafts and do a bit of baking for our Christmas party with the parents.
We'll soon have our enrollment ceremonies for the new girls who joined this year and the girls will all get various badges they have earned.
In the new year Guiding is celebrating 100 years of service to the community since the first Canadian units were formed in St Catherines.
There will be rallies and festivities we will all take part in for Guiding in Canada's 100th Birthday.
I have been volunteering with Girl Guiding since my own daughter was 8 years old. so that is about 23 years. And I really loved Brownies and Guides when I was a youth.
I teach crafts and astronomy for their badges and activities.
