Cultural Studies- Trent University- Presents: He Left Home
At 8:00pm
Located at Market Hall

Cultural Studies - Trent University presents "He Left Home" by Tadeusz Rozewicz beginning at 8 p.m. at Nozhem First Peoples Performance Space, Peter Gzowski College (2510 Pioneer Rd., Peterborough, K9L 1Z8).

A so-called comedy by renowned and award-winning Polish poet, novelist, and playwright Tadeusz R?80;ewicz.

The play loosely tells the story of husband and father Henry, who slips on a banana peel, falls, loses his memory, and comes back home not knowing who he is. His family repeatedly attempts to help him, paradoxically humiliating, abusing, and treating him like a puppet in the process. Eve, his spouse, gradually changes from a desperate wife into an abusive life coach who is trying to enforce upon her amnesiac husband his forgotten identity, although that means restoring him to a state of daily unhappiness. Translated by Adam Czerniawski, and directed by Diana Manole.

Tickets are pay what you can.

For more information and to reserve advance tickets, email trentu.helefthome@gmail.com.

An additional Show is being offered at Market Hall in the heart of downtown Peterborough on March 13th at 8pm Contact Chris/Michelle/KB at trentu.helefthome@gmail.com

Caring for the Caregiver “Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program in Nature” Workshops
from 2:00pm - 5:00pm

Located at Gamiing Nature Centre on 1884 Pigeon Lake Road 15km south of Bobcaygeon and 19km east of Lindsay

MBSR is the oldest and arguably most popular mindfulness-based treatment program, with the broadest range of treatment applications.

It is a therapeutic and educational program used and researched as an adjunct to the treatment of numerous medical and non-medical conditions.

It was developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University Massachusetts. “Mindfulness based Stress Reduction”, the core practice of meditation, is simply the ability to be deeply present in the here and now. Cultivating this ability is found at the heart of every contemplative tradition and in recent years has received considerable interest from health and wellness professionals.

The practice of meditation is used to help people learn to focus awareness on body sensations, thoughts, and emotions in a nonjudgmental way.

Through this practice, a person is given the opportunity to explore their inner world of mind/body, recognize and mobilize their inner psychological resources and take better care of the self.

Following Native American spiritual traditions which value the transformative power of nature, this program will be spent outdoors in natural beauty onsite at Gamiing overlooking beautiful Pigeon Lake.

Participants will discover the rich connections between the natural world and the inner world through meditation, and the profound joy and understanding it awakens by learning how to develop this receptive awareness outdoors.

By cultivating an inner quiet and open curious spirit we can learn from the teachings of nature and deepen our connection and appreciation of the earth on which we live.

So that you will be able to:

• stay in touch with the present moment and be less caught up in negative thought, feeling and behavior patterns

• develop more helpful responses to stress

• feel connected to the natural world, your heritage and your –chosen- community

• do simple meditation techniques which can transform daily life, including sitting meditation, body scanning and mindful movement

The program consists of eight weekly 3 hour workshops and a one day-retreat. Each participant will also have a 20-30 minutes individual telephone orientation prior to the program.

The sessions are experiential outdoors in nature at Gamiing Nature Centre. The program provides a safe and supportive environment to explore your experiences.

All instruction is modified to each individual's needs.

You are provided with daily assignments contained in two guided meditation CDs and weekly handouts.

Time & Place: Saturdays from April 21 – June 16th, from 2:00 -5:00 pm.

Cost: $ 195.00, including all material and tea/coffee & one day - retreat

To register please call 705-799-6734 or email info@gamiing.org.

You can either pay by cheque with a $45.00 non-refundable deposit and 3 post dated cheques (April 30, May 15 and May 30, 2012) or pay via PayPal upon registration.
