The Lindsay Badminton Club plays each Tuesday and Thursday evening from 8:15 - 10:15 from October-December and from January-April at the Saint Thomas Aquinas High School gymnasium on Angeline Street South in Lindsay.

It is an adult recreational badminton club that welcomes both high school and college students who want to play just for fun or who want to prepare for competition.

Beginners are welcome and the club can provide you with a racquet while you try out the game.

Instruction is available both for beginners and those who want to improve their competitive level. Non-marking running shoes are required and dedicated court shoes are recommended. Six courts are available and birds/shuttles can be purchased (at the club's cost) on site.

The LBC dates from 1914 and has been in continual operation since then, except for a few years during the First and Second World Wars when play had to be suspended.

The LBC is affiliated with Ontario Badminton and Badminton Canada:

Women Wearing Our Oxygen Masks

by Suzanne Sholer
(Omemee, Ontario,Canada)

Put your own oxygen mask on first!
As women we often care for others before taking care of ourselves, much to the detriment of everyone.

We meet on the 8th of each month to share ways we are caring for ourselves, and encouraging other women to do the same. We also encourage women everywhere to post what they are giving themselves as a gift each day, and to Tweet it with #WWOOM

Check out our fledgling blog http://wwoom.blogspot.com We are seeking women bloggers to add guest posts to our blog. Join in the fun! Let's remember to put on our oxygen masks first!

Kawartha Male Chorus singing at Canadian Tire Ladies Night

The Kawartha Male Chorus was formed in 1990 to provide recreational activity for men of all ages in the Kawartha Lakes area of Ontario who enjoy singing in four part harmony.

The Kawartha Male Chorus (KMC) give concerts throughout the community free of charge, to nursing homes, hospitals, churches, etc. For other organizations, and charitable fundraisers we do charge a small fee.

The chorus joined the Associated Male Choruses in 1992 and has been an active participant since then performing throughout Ontario and the United States.

In December 2016 the chorus was proud to have been appointed by city council as the "Official Singing Ambassadors" of the City of Kawartha Lakes.

New singers are always welcome.

Shakespeare Street Theatre

by Paula Worley
(Cobourg, ON, Canada)

Shakespeare Street Theatre is a voluntary theatre group dedicated to performing the works of William Shakespeare.

Located amongst the artistic community of Peterborough and Northumberland County, the group presents plays during the summer festival season and sonnet readings during the wintertime. Taking traditional Shakespearean street theatre to the people can be a daunting task, but Shakespeare Street Theatre embraces the opportunity to give voluntary performers, both young and adult, the chance to experience the joys of participating in a traditional street theatre production.

The Shakespeare Street Theatre group was started in 2009 by founder Paula Worley, and is made possible by the wonderful volunteer performers that contribute their time and skills to creating traditional Shakespearean style street theatre. Bringing her own unique directing style to her productions, and her skills as an artist to her scenery, masks and costumes, Shakespeare Street Theatre has gradually grown with popularity. Translating text into easily understood and enjoyed work, the group has gradually grown, but encourages new actors, dancers, singers, musicians and back-stage crew every year to come along and join the group.
