The magnificent Boyd house was destroyed because of red tape, and Bobcaygeon's lack of interest in preserving a very special piece of its history.

The story you give about the Boyd estate is delightful, but not true. When Sheila Boyd died, her sister Mildred and Mildred's daughter purchased the property and tried to restore it. They wanted to turn it into a bed and breakfast inn. Their efforts were thwarted at every turn and eventually they had to abandon their plans and sold the property to the doctors who weren't willing to spend the money to restore it and the place was leveled. I don't know their story, perhaps they wanted to but hit the same brick wall as my cousin and great aunt.
